Best Lighting for growth

I have a single 250 watt de hamilton pendant over a 40 gallon tank. It has a 14k bulb that has great color, but does not offer the best growth. I don't have any supplemental lighting. All of my parameters are right for growth. Is there a better bulb that will give me good growth and color?

Agreed, a Phoenix 14K is the favorite 250w DE bulb.

The bulb is roughly 5 months. I have heard good things about Phoenix bulbs. I will have to try one out.

yeah - the XM10k is pretty great. Even compared to the Ushio 10k it's IMO a better growth bulb. If you're used to the higher kelvin bulbs it's a tough sell initially. But you get used to the yellow and your eyes adjust - IME.

Has anyone tried a Aqualine 10k? If so, what kind of growth and color did you get out of it?

I had a Phoniex 14k 150w but it caused a meltdown. But I did love to color of bulb.
