Best macro-algae in DT

What do you recommend on macros that can be used in the Display Tank that will export nutrients, look good and will not be eaten by tangs? I will be using chaeto in my sump and for DT was thinking on Shaving Brush (Penicillus sp.) and maybe some others. Any suggestions?

Tangs love shaving brushes - at least mine did. Chewed it up in a matter of hours. I also tried putting red titan and the tangs ate that up in no time.

You really have to be careful because some macros can overrun a system fairly quickly especially a smaller one.

You may want to try some of the calcareous macros although I don't find them particularly attractive.

A lot of calcareous algae like Padina sp., Galaxaura sp., some of the species I don't know the names are very attractive and can be kept in the DT but are very difficult to keep even for the experts.

Unfortunately most of the ones that tangs will leave alone are the calcified and stiffer macros that are also much too slow growing to do any practical nutrient removal.
