I currently have mexicana in my fuge, I placed an order from florida pets (should be here wed), got prolifera, cheato, and gracilaria. My question is which of these to use together, I planned on taking the mexicana out and using the other 3, just worried about the caulerpa leaching toxins into the tank.

Thanks

Hi bhreef,

[welcome]

The red algae will not "self destruct" if it decides to reproduce sexually. I don't think chaeto attempts to reproduce sexually unless it is really stressed out. If your tank has insufficient nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorous [rarely an issue], iron, etc.) caulerpa may try to reproduce sexually. I think all should be just fine but keep if your tank has zero detectable nitrates (w/ a test kit) then you may want to keep the caulerpa small.
