Best Moonlighting solution

Ok I have a 36" wide hood and am trying to find the best moonlight solution. The PFO would be easy since I have PFO mogul bases for my MH lamps. But to be even would require 2 since I have 2 moguls..so that can be expensive. I can go with the Aqua Moonlight or the Blueline and mount in center of my hood and would prolly be the most cost effective. I do not want to skimp at this point since I have not yet..but I just want to get something that looks good and is worth the $$. Any pics of any of these setups would be great or any recommendations..

What would you recommend for my 65 gallon 36x18x24

Hi,

Going the PFO route would be the coolest way to go, but correct, that puts you into some bucks and one in the middle would probably do the job.

PFO's led is much brighter then any other i've seen too. If you don't go PFO, i would recommend the CSL moonlight, it's only 29.95, super small and could go in the middle.

I have not seen Bluelines, but AquaMedic's we are not impressed with. It's very dim, can hardly see i in the tank. Now it might be the correct intensity and spectrum to do an actual simulation of the moon for the corals, not sure, but far as looks, it doesn't compare to CSL and especially to PFO.

Thanks....If I went with one in the middle...is it still easy to mount to my hood since I wouldn't be mounting it on my PFO base?

Hi,

Yes, the CSL just has a little eye outlet, you just mount it with a small screw into your hood and all set, it's not much bigger then a quarter.

Hi Again,

I wanted to mention PFO is working on a possible design for us, a 4 led moonlight that is just plastic, not a metal mount, maybe even velcrow mountable for probably around 30-35 dollar price range. This could be several weeks away though. We told them we wanted a cheaper alternative to there socket mount, so good chance we'll have another option soon.

Great...just one thing onthe CSL Moonlight...from the pics I have seen it does not even look blue, is this true?

The led appears to be white, but somehow projects a blue tint. If you put it right up on a piece of white paper it's pure white, you back it off about 12" and it's a blue tinted color on the paper. So something inside there makes it turn blue, or maybe that is how LED's function. These guys are all new to me, but should cast a blue tint in the tank.

It's not super bright like PFO, but still pretty bright and should work well.

thanks
