Hi nano cubers
I want to start a nano cube, preferably 29+ gallons now since I had to sell my old tank when I moved. I see that we have a lot of nano cube kits in the market and wanted your opinions as to which is good. I have noticed that the advertised volume of the tank doesn't actually match how much water you can put in it in the display area. Doesn't really matter to me as long as it is wide enough and quite long. Also some manufacturer say the width is 19 inches or so but the rear chamber takes 5-6 inches out of it. Please let me know what you have noticed in any nano system you are using.
Aslo is anyone using MH in their closed lid nano? Does it get real hot if you use 150 w MH in a 24 - 29 gallon? 10 degree higher than ambient temp?
I like the new 28 gallon jbj with the built in wavemaker and skimmer but it will probably cost an arm and a leg. Also they made it taller instead of making it longer or wider. Trying to keep the manufacturing cost down, I guess making it like their 24 gallon but they didn't think about us which is sad. I will probably still buy it or make my own. I can do the canopy but don't have idea where to get a cube glass tank.
Thanks for the help guys n gals. I hope to join the club soon.
