Best option for supplimenting Nitrate

Okay dont get mad at me please.

I tried to read that sticky on nitrate dosing, but it was so much to read that I am really having a hard time getting to the important info. I just tested my nitrate with my Hagen Nitrate kit and the Nitrate is below the 5mg/l mark which means it could be at zero. The tank is a 20long with one damsel in the tank and maybe 10lbs of live rock. There is only Chaeto in the tank. This is a grow out tank for Chaeto only. Anyway I guess my feeding every other day is not causing any nitrate accumulation. So I was wondering if you could recommend a solid way of dosing nitrate.

I just purchased the Kent Super Chelated Iron per the recommendation of Sarah on this forum (thanks). Which I have am holding off on supplementing until I can also suppliment nitrate.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Kent makes a product for freshwater that is possibly the simplest way to add NO3.. "Kent Botanica Nitro" they're calling it. Made of sodium nitrate. There is also a product from Seachem, "Fluorish Nitrogen". I would follow dosing directions on the bottles to start, and then monitor nitrate.

I agree that NO3 dosing thread is a bit heavy going, so I'm glad you asked for more ideas instead of giving up on it!

Or.. try feeding that damsel each day. This sometimes improves the phosphate levels a bit too much though along with the nitrate. But I'd definitely try that route first if it were my tank. :)

Well I am kinda relying on my tap water top off which is about a gallon a day to suppliment the po4 which is usually well over 2ppm. I will have to check though you bring up a good point. I will try feeding daily.

I saw that Seachem Flourish Nitrogen, but it was in a three pack with the potassium and phosphate suppliments which I didnt feel I needed as well. Will have to check the other stores for the other product. Thanks!

Thank-you so much for your expert advice!
