best or safest glue for frags?

basicallly any super glue gel that you can find at our local hardware store. some brands are thicker than others though. i much prefer the thicker stuff.

do you just glob the glue and then place the frag directly any the water do you need to let it dry first?
sorry but i am a frag rookie:)

It has to be the gel, unless you cut the frag perfectly flat and have a perfectly flat surface to glue to. Glob the gel on the frag, stick it on a rock and hold it there till it sticks firmly enough to not fall over. Best done out of the water and dry the base of the frag slightly. If you do it underwater, you have to move fast cause the gel will get a skin on it seconds after it hits the water.

locktite is good but if you want a larger bottle then you can get at the hardware store then go to your local hobby shop they should have a larger tube of super glue gel just make sure it is cyanoacrylete

The green tube "Thick Gel Super Glue" sells at HD for like $2 for a two pack, its the best gel I've used. If you're lucky you can find it at those dollar store places in a three pack, I got 30 tubes for ten bucks but I wish I would have bought 100! Its only good for small frags. For larger stuff the epoxies can be tough to work with, I am going to try the Deltec 2 part system and KZ (zeovit) has one called "Speed Glue". Dunno if they're just repackaged puddy with a huge price tag but I'm gonna find out.

thanks guys
i used krazy glue gel
it worked but was nerve racking
next time i will try home depots stuff.
the gel was not very thick so it made it a pain
i did it out of water and as soon as water hit the gel it hardens kinda:)
live and learn right:)

Yup, with purple dye too.

The best i've found is from walmart, the brand is Duro. I tried the stuff from HD and it seems to setup to fast, i put it on the frag and then once it hits the water it skins over. The Duro stuff works under water better than any other i've tried.

IC-gel is easy for first-timers: it will glue above or under water, and it doesn't drip or string while you're making up your mind.

I second the wal mart duro drand it really works great. I just wish the would sell it in caulking gun size tubes for 5$.

Most hardware stores. FWIW, I think Duro brand and Loctite are manufactured in the same place.

Generally, any cyanoacrylate gel superglue I've found to work fine.

Any thick 100% cyanoacrylate superglue gel is fine.

AquaMend putty at HD is less than $3 a tube, does not burn frags, and works great. You can buy 5 tubes for the same cost of the Deltec and Zeovit brands.

Where can you get loctite gel?
I buy mine at the supermarket but Lowes and Home Depot also carry.
