Best place for protein skimmer?

I just got the Coralife Super Skimmer and I was wondering if there was a best place to put it...? Oh and I am putting it directly in the tank..no sump. Should it be away from filter, blowers, etc.?

Yes, you want the powerhead to suck the still water on the top. All the bad stuff goes to the surface.

Is it better to have the skimmer in a sump? How hard is it to build/configure a sump?? I'm also installing one and don't want it to detract from the tank.

maloga3 It is not better to put the protien skimmer in the sump.
It all depends on the setup. I agree it is nice not to see the protien skimmer. That is why I have mine under the tank. But the water is feed to it from the skimmer box in the tank.
