Best QT treatment before adding to display tank?

I am setting up a 40b for all fish that will be going into my display tank. I want to know what is the best treatment for fish? If a fish is in good health, that doesn't mean ich or any other disease isn't in the water or even on the fish, just not visible. I planned to hypo every fish I get for about 6 weeks just to insure ich does not get into my main tank. Any suggestions on what is the best method to use for a new fish? I understand if it has a bacterial infection, treat that, but if the fish is in good health, what to do, use and for how long before adding it into the display? Will hypo at 6 weeks and no signs of any disease be ok? Thanks.

To be sure hypo is a good bet. It is much easier to do and less harmful to the fish than copper.

Ok, I agree. Hypo isbetter and safer then copper. I'm just worried it won't kill everything that could possibly get into the display tank. Does hypo only kill ich?

Hypo can cure most diseases. Although there are studies where some parasites have been known to live through the treatment. But, it seems to be not the norm. There are many opinions on Marine velvet not being able to be cured by hypo. If that is the case, further treatment is needed. But, it is also able to be detected while in the QT. If there is something that is missed after the hypo treatment, than further treatment would be necessary. Having said that, the time in QT plus treatment I would think it would pop up before reaching the display, most of the time velvet is extremly fast and very deadly.

Ok, sounds good, I will just hypo for 6 weeks, and if during those 6 weeks they are in 100% good healthy, add them to the display. If not, use further medication depending on the disease. Thanks for your help.
