Best RO/DI unit and why?

I have a 55 gall reef setup and I am purchasing a unit tonight based on the feedback I get.

What is the best unit to get in all of your expert opinions?

I was thinking around 75gpd. Is it beneficial to have a membrane flush valve? What about a pressure gauge set up?

I have scoped out: the filter guys, air water ice, buckeye field supply, and marine depot.

I am hoping you guys can give insight to the unit with the most bang for your buck, and honest feedback regarding the best company to buy from for service.

I would like to stick with a business that goes out of their way to support all of us reefers.

Thank you

I dont know if there is a best, just use a filmtec membrane and good di resin and you will be fine, the brand of carbon and sediment is the least important aspect of a RO filter IMO

Yes a flush kit will extend the life of the membrane but it is not absolutely neccisary

Look for a unit that has a 75 GPD Dow Filmtec RO membrane. I've done business with both The Filter Guys and Bulk Reef Supply. Both outstanding companies, imo. Either one would be a good choice. My next system will probably be from Bulk Reef. I haven't decided either. :D

This is what I have and it works great!!

I bought a Ocean Reef +1 from TheFilterGuys last year to replace my old unit. I love it, plus every time I call them I can always talk to Jim.

BFS is + nothing. All requirements in one piece, great unit, best price I have seen, and the TDS meter (handheld as opposed to the unit one) is included, not "another add on". Pressure gauge built in, all fittings and hose included for a typical set up, c/w flush valve, and I will vouch for performance.

Customer service was also a plus, always nice with an online vendor!

Kudos to BFS.

The Filter Guys is where I bought mine. I got the Reef Miser that produces less waste water (get a rain barrel and pipe your waste water to it). Use it for watering the garden. Great service and everything is well labeled so even an idiot could install it. Get one with the dual TDS meter that connects really easily to the incoming and outlet plastic pipes using the provided John Guest fitting. It's easy to switch between the two readings without having to take a sample and use a hand-held meter.
Just my $0.02 worth.
