I consider Coralife good salt. Why are you changing?

I use a 50/50 blend of Coralife and Instant Ocean.

There really is no such thing as THE BEST. Almost all of the salts out there are good. Some have more trace eliments in them then others. If you have a reef tank you can use Instant Ocean but you will have to add suppliments to the tank. Some reefers like this because they can control the amounts that are added. Others like Reef Crystals or Oceanic Natural Sea Salt mix because everything is already in the mix.

Its really going to be the "Works for me" thing. I like the Oceanic Natural Sea Salt.

Here is a link to all of the salt mixes & the big 3 trace eliments in each salt......Thanks to BillBeau1

the reason why i decided to change salts, my LFS stated that some salts are dirtier then others (some salts are made indoor / outdoor facilities) so making some salt cleaner then others. example he used was, with the coralife brand he stated it leaves a foamy residue in the container mixed in or in tank. then i stated i haven't experience that problem. then he explained the different trace elements that comes in different brands. so if it doesn't make a different i will not change at all.

so is this true or not what my LFS stated ??

Nah... more than likely blowing smoke up your rear end, to try and get you to switch to a more expensive brand. Like I said, I use Coralife in my mix... and it's perfectly fine. There were very few problems reported in that thread regarding all of the salts.

Trace elements (other than Ca, Alk, and Mag) were also reported to be insignificantly different from brand to brand.

So if Coralife fits your bill, as far as what target water params you shoot for, then keep it. If one of the other salts on the thread catches your eye, or looks to be closer to where you would like to keep your water params... then by all means, make a switch.

The main goal as I stated, is just to try and find a salt that closely matches your target water params, so that minimal buffering is needed.
