Just FYI on this site just press the submit button once, even if it takes FOREVER which it does ALOT!!!

I just read an article in this months Aquarium Fish they have a huge artice on gobies, sand sifting and others..

Many sand sifters starve to death in small tanks unless you can hand feed them (What I do to mine)

They eat shrimp also

hmm, what about a couple Mexican Red-legged hermits? They work for me in my 12G nano. I also think a fighting conch might do the job...

I wouldn't rely on a fish for sand-sifting in a tank that small as once the sand is cleaned the fish tend to slowly starve.

A couple of Nassarius snails would be good, I would not recommend anything larger than that in a nano. Make sure you have a good water flow, you may need a second pump.
I used to stir the sand myself with a stick about the size of a pencil or a plastic ruler about once a week. I would put a bit of filter floss in the overflow first, stir stuff up a bit and then remove the dirty floss when things had settled.
