Best selection of filter socks in town?

hm, i think most LFS should have them but the ones with the bigger dry good selections would be more likely like aquatouch, ocean floor, maybe carlos at aquarius.

I just ordered 2 4" socks off amazon for like $12. so thats an option if you can wait the 2-3 days for shipping or if you have Prime.

Any of the east side stores are within miles of the distributor, and can get anything they have available. I know South West Aquaculture and Club Reef go daily. Reef Monsters can get anything quickly too.

Has anyone thought about doing a DIY for filter socks?

DIY socks are super easy. If you can run a sewing machine. Just go to the fabric store and get a couple yards of heavy felt and some nylon thread. Cut to desired size and sew. I have about 30 DIY socks, probably cost about 50 cents each. I didn't get real fancy with them and just hold them in place on my return pipe with a squeeze clamp from lowes.

I done them before with a buddy since my wife had a sewing machine at the time..lol!! He gave me a few and worked out great!! What they charge for them is crazy IMO :eek1: He got fancy with his since he had a sock holder.. As many times I washed them out and reused to the point of tossing them out..

? It's getting real gangster over here. I just use my old socks. And for a clamp, I use old broker shoe strings.

lol mcguyver style.

I like the plastic rings at the top of the ones I bought as it works great with my DIY PVC sock holder, otherwise the DIY sock route sounds best bang for your buck.
