i am in the process of setting up my new tank....oceanic 50. my current 12gallon nano has a pair of fancy percs & i will transferring them to the new tank once it is cycled. i also plan on adding a rbta. i also want to put a pair (preferrably mated pair) of b/w clowns.

* will the b/w get along w/ the fancy percs???
* should i add a 2nd rbta or will they share?
* what are some of the best sites to buy the b/w clowns?

here are a few links that i did find.....please list others for me to consider

mated pairs for $180 http://www.aquacon.com/Clownfish_saltwaterfish.html

I'm by no means an expert, but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Based on my own research, I think your tank is too small to have two different types of clowns.

It also seems to be very rare (although not completely impossible) for two different mated pairs of clowns to share an anemone.

I've heard that the quality of fish from saltwaterfish.com is fairly low. Blue Zoo Aquatics seems to have a good reputation though. I'm not familiar at all with the last company.

If you just buy two juveniles, they will eventually become a mated pair. B&W Ocellaris are pretty easy to pair.

2 pairs of clowns in 50g tank = blood bath.

Clowns are highly territorial fish, especially to other clowns. I've seen my 1.5" B&W Occ aggressively take on a 6" Lunare Wrasse. I wouldn't dare add another pair of clowns to any of my existing pair's tanks.

My Occ pair would shred any newcomers, as would my 2 pairs of B&W Occs. Even with the pair in my 125g.

looks like i'll be keeping the 12 nano for 1 pair & putting the other in the new tank....then again, i might buy a biocube 29 w/out light/canopy from nanotuners & sell the 12

the good 'ol...."if ya can't say something nice then don't say anything at all" ???? LOL

Live aquaria is good, they have a great warranty.

I would not put two pairs of clowns in any tank, although I have had friends who have done it and it's worked. I am also not a fan of two RBTA's in the same tank...they may do the chemical warfare thing and kill off everything in the process.
