Hi all!
I want to ask you if someone knows where´s the best place to buy seahorses online?
Thanks in advance!

If you are in the states, SeahorseSource.com is run by Dan U here on the forum. Great service and great help when you need it!

Sorry, but I'd NEVER recommend buying wild caught seahorses, unless you are a large scale breeder who is refreshing blood lines.
Wild caught are fraught with more problems than tank raised which in turn are less likely to be successful than true captive bred which will give you the greatest chance of success.

Thanks for your advice!!! ;)

Living here on Long Island, we are surrounded by water on 3 sides. I have a friend that is a scalloper he had caught 3 sea horses in 1 of his traps. They were beat up a little bit so I tried to nurse them back to health. I put them in a separate tank and they survived and even grew to be about 6 inches each! I trained them to eat frozen Hycari mysis and PE mysis as there basic diet. I even had a breeding pair of these H. Erectus. They lived for about 3 years before dying of a disease that wiped out the whole tank.
The sea horses that I have now are captive bred but I still like the wild caught if I can get them. I would just keep them in a separate tank.

I never recommended buying wild caught sea horses. I was just stating that they were. It is up to the person to make that decision.

I had the wrong impression then as the question was: "where´s the best place to buy seahorses online? " and I was pointing out that wild caught certainly were not.

Thanks for your input guys!

Captive bred seahorses are easily adapted to aquarium conditions, especilly for novice.
Maybe I better to add two words "Best site to buy seahorses online for novice".

I would add that seahorse keeping is not for a true novice. I assume you mean novice sea horse keeper as opposed to novice saltwater keeper. Either way, best advice is to stick with captive bred and raised and do your research well in advance. I still haven't made the jump because I'm still researching and preparing my tank for them.

Hahaha....yes, I mean seahorse novice.

Don't know if this is the best place or off topic, but I know where not to buy seahorses. Seahorse.com. They are out of Hawaii and the two times I have done business with them they have not payed attention to any instructions. The last time they shipped it to the wrong place. I called them and arranged different shipping and again they went to the wrong place. Luckily after 72 hrs they still lived and are doing great. I have a really established sea horse tank. Sorry to vent guys. Thanks you for the alternative sight for seahorses.
