I'm setting up a 125g fowlr tank and have $300 to spend on a skimmer. I'm looking at the reef octopus nwb200 or aqua euro 250? Any suggestions? Thanks everyone

If you could swing a smidge more or wait til July 4th for 10% off sales, go for the super reef octopus 2000. You cannot beat the 3 year warranty and it is a great skimmer. If not, any of the octopus skimmers are good bang for the buck.

I agree with this. Go with this skimmer, you will not be disappointed.

Check out the reef ocotopus extreme 160 or xs 160. Sometimes you see them on ebay for half price used. They are great performers, and you can upgrade to a bubble blaster pump later on, but you probably won't need to.

Running a Reef Octopus xs 200 on my 120. It is rated for 200 gallons, runs quiet with the new Sicce pump, and pulls some really nasty gunk...

Under $300 for a 125g, you'd regret it. Just go with the Reef Octo. I'm running a XP-2000SSS on a 120g total volume..Love it.

Stay with proven pumps.

the octos recommended have either the new psk's or the BB's (great pumps)

The pump is ultimately the most important component on a skimmer followed by design.
I would stay away from Atmans or PSK 2500's

Just my .02

psk 2500 is the old unreliable version that are plagued with start up issues. The new redesigned PSK 600 and 1000's on the current octos do not have the start up issues and run almost silent.

The Sicce PSK 2500 is the previous model sicce that has a lot of problems. They remade the Sicce line and replace those pumps with ones designed specifically to be used with skimmers. I have a new model Sicce PSK 600 on my Diablo XS 160 and I have zero issues with it.

Oh, and if you wanted an Octopus XS line I wouldn't get the 160, too small for your tank.

+1 sro 2000int

Add me to the list. I love mine on my 150g. It fills the Reef Octopus waste container weekly. I skim a little wet.
