MSX 200 - $279.99

What ^ said. MSX cheaper and just as good + free **** + meshwheel.

The Vertex skimmers skim very very well for the price range. Well worth the look and research here on reefcentral. Skims better than alot of higher priced skimmers. Take the reviews with a grain of salt here on reef central. Often people just like to toot the skimmer they currently own. Occasionaly someone like Mojo, SJM, and ToddMarch who have owned quite a few, will give unbiased opinions based off of their experience. Pay attention to those peoples opinions, as they are probably more useful and steering you in the right direction.

Thx for all the input. I am going to have a standard 20 gal long tank to use as my sump/refugium. I haven't siliconed my dividers in yet, so I'm only limited by the size tank I have chosen

Re: skimmer

Dont mess around get a Warner Marine AS150 for 450.00 you will not regret the investment this is the most important piece of equipment. "Water Quality":smokin:

would the MSX 200 fit in a 20 gal long? It says the MSX has a footprint of 11.5 in x 13.5 in. Does that mean that the first compartment in my sump needs to be at least that size.

yea it will fit in most 12 wide aquariums. i would make the first compartment about 15inches or so to give you room. i would not use a refugium in that 20 long, with the skimmer and return pump compartments. there is not enough room, i would plumb in a remote refugium with a 10 gal tank, or a cheap rubbermaid. that way the rest of the 20 long can be used for the return pump area. if you have too small of an area for your return the evap will be a pain to keep up with.

thx tpenn. How would you set up the sump? what could I do with the extra space if I choose not to do a refugium?
