Best starting fish

In Deep Water

So I finally have my LR setup how I want it....I think. I have added a couple of scarlet hermits, pep.shrimp, and 1blood shrimp. Im now thinking about a goby or blenny for the first fish. Are these good fish to get as far as the order of putting livestock in?

Is your tank done cycling? If it is, I would wait at least 2-3 more days. Just to make sure. Mine had a mini-cycle and then a large cycle. Freaked me out cuz I had some inverts in there. As far as goby or blenny, depends on which one u want. Me personally, I wanted some true percs eventually, so I started with a false perc. because the false are about $180 cheaper where i'm at. And to be safe, I didn't want my first fish to cost that much, just in case. But, I'm glad to say that he has made it just fine so far.

If your tank is through its cycle a goby or blenny would be fine. After the cycle you are going to go through a few algae blooms, first diatoms, etc. Don't freak, it's normal. With that in mind an algae blenny (lawnmower, etc.) or the like would be good addition to your cleanup crew and have great personality, just make sure they eat other foods as well. And don't forget, blennys and gobies are notorious jumpers so keep that in mind.

I started with damsels, but most people (like myself) wind up hating them, and then they're a pain to get out of your tank...

Once you are sure your cycle is finished, I'd suggest false percs or a sand-sifting goby. Mine had a BLAST when I got my diatom bloom, and made the sand beautiful again in no time.
