Best way to attach cyphastrea that has outgrown its plug?

I recently got a cyphastrea frag from my LFS. They had it for a really long time and it outgrew its plug and grew for 4 inches or so on the glass around it. I want to attach the frag to my my rockwork, but my rockwork obviously isn't as smooth as glass. What's the best way to break it up and attach it? Thanks for the help.

Cut the base of the plug off. Take some super glue gel and some putty. Super glue putty to plug and putty to rock. That's the best luck I have. If I skip the super glue a fish or something always knocks it loose.

Cyphastrea has a tendency to spread quickly like some Montiporas, so best keep it on it's own rock,

I guess I didn't make my point clear enough in my first post: I want to break apart the coral so I can lay it on my rock and have the coral follow the contours of the rock and not just be a flat surface like it is now.

Sorry! In that case I take bone cutters sudeways and cut it off of the plug. If you had a saw that would be easiest. You could cut a chunk off the plug and mount that to your rock. Then save the other piece / sell it

It's easy enough to break by hand
I had a little drop fall into a rock crevice and now its fully incrusted on the rock so even a little flake will spread
