Best way to QT?

ok, I have a few options to do this and trying to get some critique on the way to do it. I have my main display at 180g that is doing nothing right now but at the end of its cycle or close to it. I have an empty 100g stock tank, and I have a 55 that I am going to pick up today. Is it possible to just run hypo in the main tank? All the rock is eco rox so nothing really alive right now. It has been in the tank for about 6 months. Or should I just set up the stock tank or the 55 and just run it there? Should I just throw some chaeto and pods in the sump of the main tank and some CUC? Throw me some thoughts here..

If your rock has been in the tank for about 6 months, why do you think there's nothing really alive on it?

If that's the case, I wouldn't recommend doing hypo in the display tank. I'd set up the 55 as a QT tank. That will give you lots of room for QTing fish that need larger areas. With a 180, you may eventually decide to put some large fish in it and the typical QT tanks are too small for QTing larger fish. A 55 would work great!!

Has the rock been seeding with any live rock or live sand at all? Find a fellow hobbyist and get a small piece of live rock and a couple cups of live sand. Put these in your tank to seed your tank!! You'll have live rock and live sand before you know it!! Oh and yes, get some Chaeto and put in your sump, keep it lit and you're good to go!!

Yeah I know about seeding, thanks for the info though.
I am going to seed the tank, just wondering if it was feasible to run hypo in the main tank before seeding it. Maybe my question was not understandable. Its ok, I will start seeding the tank tomorrow and run the hypo in the stock tank, and the 45. Thanks for the replies. And I can name a few reasons for Why Not to Minot. F'ing negative 60 degrees!!!!!
