best way to remove a large anemone from live rock?

Does anyone have any tips for removing a long tentacle anemone that has grown too large for my 90 gallon tank? It is attached to an integral piece of rock near the bottom of the tank, so without dismantling the whole thing, it ain't going anywhere. I have heard of collectors squirting lemon juice into the mouth of carpet anemones with a syringe, but this is in the wild, don't want this plan to back fire in a closed system. Any ideas for getting this thing to detach?

I once used a powerhead on a bubble tip to make it move. I just blasted the PH at the anemone's foot and it started to move in just 10 minutes. Once it starts to move it is much easier to peal the think off. The trick to pealing is to go slow and look for a loose hold that comes up easily. Have not clipped your nails for a little while helps too as it gives you something to dig with.

I don't know if your type of anemone will work the same way but this worked for me.

I have also heard of putting ice in a plastic bag and placing the bag against the foot. For that matter I have also heard of just rubbing the raw ice up against the foot too.

good luck, Kevin

I know that the ice in a plastic bag worked when I got my LTA. It requires patience no matter how you do it. It has been in my tank now for months without any ill effects.

I have a 90 gal too, the LTA has become the king of this castle...
