Best way to rid flatworms...

okay, my tank is now infested. They need to go. However... im sure that if I use FWE the water will be brown/yellow instantly because there are visibly thousands. Is it possible to do FWE baths on individual pieces of rock? Has anyone tried this? Whats the procedure... I dont want to risk my entire tank.

Would it be best to separate my fish/corals in another tank while i nuke the rocks/sand/water that has the majority of them? Then do large water changes and switch everything back after a couple of weeks?

I hate seeing all those lil b@stards :(

I freshwater dipped all my rocks and stuff in my tank first when I treated for FWs. Almost all of them fall off in the bucket. Then I treated the entire tank with FWE and had no visible effects to other inhabitants from the treatment (and no water discoloration).

You need to siphon out as many as possible before treating with the FWE. It may take a few days to a week of daily siphoning to get most of them. Get water ready for a large water change, and have carbon ready. The flatworms do pack a punch when they die so its very important to reduce their population as much as possible before treating.

I didnt see you started this thread, let me know if you need help. I can be there to help with water changes and stuff, to be honest you would be better off to treat the whole tank with everything inside, there are flatworms all over your corals not just your rocks.

Thanks everyone. Im going to try the FWE... but im going to try siphoning as many of them out first, then doing freshwater dips of the rock... and then the FWE on the entire tank. Wish me luck :(
