Better check your restart systems...Ameren's coming

Check your mail, at least for those of us around the Troy, IL area, possibly other nearby towns as well. I'm not sure how widespread this work is they're doing. Got a notice that Ameren is going to be working in the area installing "automated reading" features on the electric and gas gauges. Said there will be a power interruption of up to 15 minutes. Of course, they don't narrow it down at all as to when they'll be doing this...just "soon".

Anyone else already been through this? Are they really that quick with getting it done? I love how their notice reads that "all you'll have to do is reset a few appliances". Yeah, a few of us have a little more than that to be concerned with.

I got my notice here in E'ville. I believe you could call them and schedule an appointment. The notice said that if you have a meter that was inside your home that they would make arrangements. (although I realize this is probably not the case for most of us) I would expect that they would accomidate us if we just ask.

They did it to me last month. I happened to be home and the power was off for about 20 seconds. They guy even knocked on my door to tell me to turn off any computers and audio/video equipment.

I spoke with Ameren this morning and I was told there will me another notice coming out to notify us when the installation will occur. I was told that we will be able to make appointments at that time. We'll see.

Jamie, I don't know what direction they're working in, but Ameren was just here at my house installing one of these meters. I just happened to be off from work today, so was here to monitor everything fortunately.

They did mine last week while we were at work. No notice.

Lucky for me and the tank there were no issues.

Was about 1:15 pm yesterday. Guy rang the doorbell and banged on the door, then was in the process of stuffing some cardboard message thing in the door handle when I answered the door. He just said, "you should have gotten a notice that we would be coming around", and I said yeah, but would have been nice to have known exactly what week you'd be in the neighborhood or whatever. Hell, they don't care. I had to ask the guy if he could wait a second before he shut stuff off. I was sitting there with my 5 year old with the flu, playing a PS3 video game and was like, I'd like to shut this thing down before you just cut the power to it. So did that, then headed down to check tank stuff out after the power came back up.
