Better control with new controller?

Hi Roger, I've had my Stream6000 for a couple of months now for my 120 reef. Even though I have turned each down all of the way as you requested it is way to much for my tank. I can only have one on at a time so everything doesn't get so blown around. I almost have a bald spot at the front of my tank where the sand has been moved around. I have the magnet holders and can't seem to adjust the position much . The one I have on most of the time is in the back right hand corner. Its up as high as it can go and is pointed toward the center glass. The other one is on the left side next to the overflow shooting out across the tank. Can/t turn it enough so it can hit the front glass. My Bta and clam has a fit when the left one is on and especially when they are both on, so that's why I just have the right one on.

Any suggestions? I haven't been able to get a controller yet.

Thanks, Cindy

The controllers will just take a little more time. You could try mounting it on the back glass and pointing it across, the angle should hit the center front, I also tried this on my 75 and the sharpest angle from the side back corner will hit front center. I am really surprised because the 6000 should be just right for a 120. Are you sure they are not 6100? You can tell because a 6100 Transformer is 19V and a 6000 is 11V. You would only want to run one at a time.

I checked the transformer and it is 11V -6000.

When I run the one on the left it seems to aim more toward the right front corner and the right one toward the front center.

Here's a couple of pics in case you can tell me how to adjust them a little better. When the one on the left is going it gives my clam a hard time and the mantle starts shriveling up.

Heres a view from the front and one from the side.

I would mount the stream on the back on the side so you get a better angle on it. The clam probably isn't too happy but clams are very adaptable and over time it will likely adapt but I don't know for sure I have seen clams from high flow environments and the scutes are abraded and they have a more streamlined shape. I dont know that they can change to a new setting later in life, I would ask Dr Ron or Eric Borneman. I do think changing the pump poition will solve the immediate problem and you might also try the opposite and go from front corner to back corner.

I did try the left stream on the left front side and aimed toward the back glass. It almost knocked the clam over. A rock kept him from falling over. This weekend I will try putting it on the back glass with the other stream. I thought since the overflow was on the left that would cause the stream to be pretty far over on the back glass. Its certainly worth a try.

Thanks, Cindy
