Better growth next to other zoa's

I have noticed that when I place my zoa's next to different types of zoa's the growth potential is multiplied, in my tank I normally get about 20+ new polyps per month (depending on the zoa's) but when i place them next to a different type of zoa (color wise) they explode in growth, at least double the polyp growth (40 new polyps or more). I figure this would be due to the strive to survive theory, but I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their zoa's.

It has always been a good way to get alot of growth out of my zoas rather than having them on a frag by themselves.

Your on the right track, it's like having a oasis all for your self if no one is around, but when people start coming you try to horde all the space you can get.... same with zoa's, competition for space and price realty.... they're animals to and plants do this as well in the rain forests

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that. One of those things I'd never think of, but totally makes sense.

Your totally right. I have single zoa colonies that grows ok. But I have this finger tongan rock about 1' to 1' and a half, and I glue little frags of different colored zoas all over the rock. They grew even faster and now looks like a rainbow rock. Mayn, I need to invest in a camera. I'll post pics one of these days
