Better Route TO key west?

a few months ago some one said there was a "better" route to key west ?? any info i leave tomarrow

A plane is the best route . I just take 75 to the turnpike. Taking 41 instead of turnpike IS less miles and usually quicker depending on traffic.

Do you really need a car in Key West? Parking there is not so great. Drive down to Ft. Meyers and take the ferry.

the ferry will cost more than my gas and 2 days of meals. I dont actually get into key west except for 1or 2 nights im going to lobster @ mile marker 18 i just thought i had heard there was a faster route

From Tampa, I would do I75, off to 41 just before Alligator Alley, take a right on Krome Ave.(997) all the way to US1.

Keep in mind, 41 is a 2 lane road and if there is a wreck it get's backed up pretty bad. I have only had that happen once though out of 14 trips.

BTW....when you get into The Keys, if the speed limit is 45....go 45. They don't play down there.
