Beware Emerald Crab eating Superman Monti.

This frag was given to me by my friend , 1/2" frag grew to 2.5" ..
Well, every now and then the colony would get a scraped mark like something munch on its still good, a weeks. past it would heal and grow over that spot and today same thing happened to it only on different spot. I have several EC in the tank.
This really puzzels me that this is the only coral they like to touch. They dont even bother other montis in the tank, like the one that grows monstreuos that needs trimming all the time.
My question is what should I do w/ this EC?..............catch'em all and feed it to the Triggers or skewer them if I ever spot one.....just kidding I would not kill no cute little crab

I say you should boil them up, dip in chocolate and then feed to seasquirt

When mine took out my zoos I just put them in the fuge. Within a week the biggest killed all the others. But the big one lived for a long time down there.

i have had terrible experience with them attacking corals and fish. menard, you have a better heart than i do ... mine went straight to the puffers.

hey menard...ever seen a white tulip looking snail suck the color from an acro...doesnt damage the tissue just sucks the green out of it.....????

Matt...............Yes!! they do eat acros., stylos., seriatas.,posis..Some are coated in coralline also. The one I found on styloporas are big about 3/8" in size, covered in coralline algae. i thought at first was part of the rock coz of the disgise, the colony start loosing colors, so I investigate and there it was.They are very cryptic.

thats what is so strange....its a deep water acro and no missing tissue...sucks the green the colony browns for a few days and colors back up and the cycle repeats...never killing the main colony..???

Uses it as a host, never kills the colony. Reminds me of the movie ALIEN........This spiecies sometime inbeaded into the skelliton, I have to fry 'em out................PEACE

m.. you should feel good. i have six of them and now that they have cleaned the rock nicely... yep they have moved on to the sps at night...

shiskabob is unfortuatly the only way i will be ablt to get them out of the tank... i should have know.. they look like the black ones that get feed to your trigger..
