I was going to place this under the "Zoo Tank Updates" thread but I wanted this to have its own thread. I want to extend a big thank you to Tim and Anthony of ABC Reefs for all their help during the last couple of weeks to get the seahorse tank going. Tim actually took the day off work and they both drove down to deliver livestock and they both helped with acclimation and preparation. Tim was also incredibly patient in answering a host of questions, consulting with others when he did not know the answers and answered countless e-mails. He showed genuine enthusiasm regarding regarding the opportunity to help with this project. ABC donated turbo snails, and macroalgaes. Seahorses were provided at cost and all items were provided at very discounted prices. So again, a big thanks on behalf of myself, STRS and the zoo.
Oh and by the way, the seahorses look terrific and ate mysis immediately after being placed into their new home as he promised they would.
I did put baby pods in the display for the pipefish but it will be a while until they grow to sufficient size. If anyone who is attending tomorrow has some frozen cyclopeeze, rotifers, baby brine or any living pods or shrimp in their refugium, I would be greatly appreciative if you could swing ity by the zoo tomorrow AM. I will be their at about 9:30 am until about 12:30 or so.
