BigBarnacles big build thread.

Great build!! Tagging with build

My wife also did our rock scape.. Was going crazy as she kept moving everything for a week :banghead:

Hey everyone. Sorry about not adding pics last night as promised. Ended up doing some tank maintainance (cleaned glass, swapped out filter socks, topped off some H2O). I'll try and get some more pics up tonight after water cycle testing. Also, tested phos for the first time with my new Hanna tester...0.10
So I fired up my phosban reactor for the first time. Will retest phos Sunday.

Initial sump and plumbing setup, pre-saltwater.

Setup before pH probe installed. Skimmer not running and phosban reactor yet to be installed.

And, the start of my fish/utility room. Currently working on shelving for test kits, supplements, supplies, etc. Using the BFS 4 stage 100 GPD RO/DI.

The TLF Phosban reactor is awesome. Had a phos 0.10 a few days ago and decided to start running the reactor. The phos level has already dropped to 0.07
Using the TLF Phosban media in the reactor. Only had to use about half of the small container. Will post a pic of it all set up later.

The ATO and 5 gallon reservoir I ordered should be arriving any day now. I can't wait. Getting tired of topping off the sump. I'm also hoping my nitrites have dropped. Ammonia has been zero for a week. Looking forward to firing up the skimmer.

Just received my acrylic skimmer stand today. The skimmer is currently sitting in ten inches of water. The adjustable stand will allow me to get it to the perfect height. If anyone is interested I'll post pics of the stand before I put it in the sump tonight. Also, check out my "crazy cycle" thread to see what's going on now with my aquarium.

Lol, I wish I had your budget...I'll update my thread soon, but it's not gonna have too many fancy schmancies ;)

32 DAYS! Thirty two friggin days and the cycle is complete! NH3 0.0, NO2 0.0, NO3 10. Just added some chaeto to the fuge and carbon to the sump. I'll post a pic in a few minutes.

Fish corner. I don't get a whole fish room lol, but this will do.

After using several test kits and realizing that my color blindness can really skew the results I've decided to order the Hanna KH and Ca checkers. I'm already using the Hanna po4 checker and I love it. I should be receiving the meters in a few days, I'll let you guys know what I think of them.

My po4 pre addition of the the phosphate reactor and phosban was 0.11. The level decreased to 0.07 and had stayed there for a few weeks (during cycle). This past week I added chaeto to the fuge and retested po4 last night after noticing a nice big diatom bloom on my sand bed. The level started creeping back up to 0.08. I just dumped the old phosban and refilled the reactor. I'll retest the po4 tonight (using the Hanna meter). Also, tonight will mark the first time the new system has had a water change. I'm betting that'll help lower the po4 as well. Salt water is mixing as I type this.

First water change complete. Siphoned some diatoms off the sand. That, combined with changing out the phosban should lower the po4...I hope. Will test tomorrow and update everyone.
