Bigger sump than DT?

Does anybody have a bigger sump than their DT? Or does this kind of defeat the purpose of a nano tank?

I'll be moving soon, and I am considering using a 10g as the DT and a 29 as the sump. (If the landlord has a problem with fish tanks, I'll just say, "look, it's just 10 little gallons!")

I don't see how it defeats the purpose of a nano, Your DT is still nano. Just means your 10 gallon nano will be way more stable and you can have a nice skimmer and will keep sps better.

I'm not sure if it does defeat the purpose of a nano, as the DT is still more convenient for upkeep, cleaning and moving.
The extra water volume offers stability and flexibility, but will make higher % w/c more difficult.
I would go the bigger sump if I was skimming, or for a dsb, but not if I was relying solely on l/r and w/c for filtration.

I have a 24 gal cube w/approx 25 gal FuGE/sump. After adding sump it has been a lot more stable temp wise and nems are a lot happier. Also added a bigger skimmer that in itself was worth it in my opinion. I'd say go for it. Plus got all the equip out of the DT so it looks a lot better.

Thanks guys, I have a few perfect rocks, which I would rather keep than filling up my 29 with average rocks. And I like the maintenance of nano tanks, not to mention the cost of lighting is less.

I have a BakPak skimmer I'll be using and will use a large area of the sump for a fuge. Dsb and lr. And since the stand will be big enough to fit the 29g sump, Ill have extra room on top where I may use a 5g or algae or something.
