For those of you who worry about flooding your basement if the sump pump goes out due to a power outage, what about having a bilge pump on hand? When I was a child, my dad outfitted a bilge pump with a long handle so we could take turns bailing water out of the sump and through a hose to the yard. We don't have a sump in our basement, but the neighbors do. Too late to put that together for this storm, but something to think about for the future.
