Looking for about 150lbs of rock and wondering if this stuff is any good, or what the chief selling points are...also, looking for a quantity discount if available for a decent size order.
Like the skew says, this is the only true Marshall rock replacement we have seen at this price point. It is made up of true reef rubble which consists of ancient coral skeletons making it light weight and extremely porous. Most other live rock is just that; rock. This makes it more dense and more uniform in shape. I believe the preparation of this rock before it is sent to us makes a big difference as well. It is tanked and held for a period of time before boxing to allow most of the fragile organisms a chance to die off and not make the trip. One of the biggest improvements over the Marshall rock I have seen is the absence of those annoying rock crabs. We actually had an entire system set up here at the facility to purge these crabs from the rock. We have put the Bima rock through the same procedure and have never seen the crabs.
As for price breaks, if you know about live rock you will know there are really no margins in it. Price breaks to us are by the ton and those come in the way of better freight prices. Send an email over to customerservice@bluezooaquatics.com and we will see what we can do for you.
