bimac questions

Hello Evryone,

I recently purchased a bimac at my lfs. It is doing very well and the body is about the size of a lemon I guess. He has been eating ghost shrimp like crazy. I have tried a few frozen things but he seems uninterested. I was wondering how much should I feed him per day? Also is there anywhere online I can order feeder fiddler crabs at a reasonable price? I can get crayfish at my lfs and when the weather gets better I can catch them out of a creek that runs through my backyard. Also are there any frozen foods that they prefer? I can get several kinds.

Thanks

Michael

hmm if you have a bimac with the mantle size of a lemon, I would say its full grown. That could be why is not eating. Old age could be setting in. I feed bimacs snails, mussles, clams, shrimp.. You can feed every day or every other day. Octopuses ten to stop eating when full so just make sure you take out any left over food. Here is a link to some place that sells fiddlers. Crayfish are good too.http://www.aquaculturestore.com/

Actually I just got to looking at him and he is just a little bigger than a golf ball. He is eating ghost shrimp. I was just looking for other foods he might like. He ate a snail today also. There must have been a crab in the live rock I didn't know about too since I found a shell that was broken apart today. Also thanks for the link.

You could try some clams and mussles too. It will take them awhile the first time to open them but after they drill the shell, the game is over. You will also find the the octopus uses its radula to drill a hole in the same exact spot on each shell depending on the species of bivalve.
