I am setting up my growout system I ordered 3 cubic feet of bio balls 1.5" but aquatic eco systems sent me 1" balls. Should I send them back and get the larger ones or will the small one work as well?

Did you pay more for the 1.5" than the 1" would have been? Anytime you dont get what you pay for, take issue with it.

1.5" does have more surface area than 1" so I would imagine it would be better to have the 1.5"

I dont use them in my growout system. LiveRock, Live Sand and a good skimmer for me.

Actually you got a better deal the small ones have more surface area 160ft2 compared to 98ft2 for the 1.5 balls. the 1" are also more expensive.

If you need more contact me I know where to get the same, really cheap.

thanks . I got the price difference credited. Do you think that I will need more than 3 cubic feet for 1k 2.5k clownfish.

I have several bio ball systems for my growouts.
My largest is about 2 cubic foot of Bio balls and it handles about 1k-4k larger grown out clowns. Needing a good water change once a week is an absolute must for that system.

I think you will be fine I have 12 cubic feet in a system with about 10K fish.Make sure you move enough water in the filter, pump air in it and prefilter the water good to keep it clean.
