I dont think you up and need to get rid of your bta. Each animal is different, it migt have found a nice place to plant it foot and might never move again and flourish; but be prepared for the unwarranted/unprevoked/unexplained walks that they LOVE to take!
Zoas will do quite well under the PCs, I know that many people have trumpets that do quite well also. As for the acans I know they like moderate/low light(when under halides), so I think they should do ok but dont quote me on that.

Here would be an answer to your furry problem. I used it orignally as a way to help acclimate my tank to the halides, it also helps prevent jumpers. I actually don't use it anymore as I don't worry about jumping so much ( as it might help me actually get my firefish out of the tank HA). If I were still using it I had kicked around the idea of giving it the black krylon touch, although i have heard that white is more reflective, so I would prob only paint the the top and not down into each of the holes.<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=14211403#post14211403 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by Luna81

It was simple to make, got the piece at Menards in the lighting section, and used side cutter to cut to size. I have made notches in the back to allow for the powerhead chords, and i have it overlap the back wall about 1/4" to prevent jumping a bit. I cut the front to contour the curves of the front corners. It just sits down on that lip inside quite nicely!

I don't know if it'd work for me. This cat has figured out how to open the garbage. Routinely is found inside our cabinets sleeping (or eating our food). And has now taken to opening our sliding closets and getting inside.
I seriously think he'd pop that out somehow. He's a frakin' genius sometimes.

I didn't read through much of this thread but I'll put in my 2 cents on what I've seen regarding the anemone. Anemones need higher level lighting that PC lights cannot provide. Even if you have high wattage PCs, the anemone will slowly die over time. T5 or MH are your only option if you want to ensure the survival of your bta. Trust me when I say you will feel terrible if you stick with PCs only to watch your anemone die.

jmadison, have you ever done a PAR test to see how much light that egg crate cuts down? Any chance you could post a picture of the tank with the MH light on and the egg crate on, then the same photo but remove the eggcrate?

The LFS will always tell you that because they want you to buy it. I personally would say not to because its a risk but some other's have done it with success.

Had an anemone with the stock lighting... would not do it again nor would I recommend doing it. Did it die? No... Did it thrive? NO... why would you do that to an animal just to say you have one? Just my 2 cents...
Heres my anemone a year and a 10 months ago under the stock lights of the bio cube...approx 3" in diameter
This is it 8 months after the first pic....Do you think it could get any closer to the lights? approx 4+" in diameter (not much growth at all) and I fed it routinely.
Shortly after that pic I upgraded to the sunpod MH fixture... this is it as of today... And I DO NOT SPOT feed it... I have not directly fed that anemone in over 8 months. It does benifit from current feeding when I feed my fish I make sure there are some cyclops and mysis in there for the anem to get. FYI last measurement 10+" in diamter.
**Just because your anemone has good color doesnt mean its entirely healthy.

No... I have a picture of a colony of Purple haze zoas directly under the tentacles of the anemone when its open. They do not close up nor are they receding in anyway. Although I keep most of my corals as far away from the anem as I can, BTA's have a very very weak sting and most LPS are far more potent than the anemone. And most zoas IME are unaffected by it. Moving about and covering the coral however is a different story. I havent had that happen to me but issues would arise in that scenario...LOL.

I have the 4.36 biocube lighting upgrade. The fans have a variable voltage selector. With it on 9V instead of 12V and all four bulbs running, it will not get hotter than 82 degrees in the dead summer in Florida. Fans might be a little loud for some on 12V, but it's in another room and doesn't bother me. I just had it on 9V for a little while just to test. And the light output is practically frying my mushrooms!

ok...i have this cpr sr3 skimmer for 3 weeks now. it's working somewhat ok now but my question is....is it normal that everytime i do my water change i will get micro bubbles from the skimmer??? it settles down for about 24 hours but its just annoying me that every time i do WC's ill get massive amounts of micro bubbles.
