Bio Digest ??

It says that 1 ampuole is good for up to 260g. I only have a 65 with about 80g total WV. Is it OK to add the whole thing or should I only add some of it? And should I wait longer than the 2 weeks if I add the whole thing? I asked in RD, but haven't got any feedback, hopefully more people in this room will know this kind of thing. Thanks.

First time dosing it to the tank?

I have total of 60 net gal in my 90 and dose one vial. Be more careful with the bioptim.

These two can shock you system a little upon initiation. My ph/alk when out of whack for a few days but now I'm using the remaining prodibio and MB7/vodka is my main source of bacteria.

I got a killer deal on a lot of the digest/bioptim from marine depot before starting the MB7 and vodka. I dose the prodibio every 2 weeks and don't put any MB7/vodka in on those days. When it's gone, I'll just do the MB7/vodka but I might as well use it!

Same intent just a little biodiversity with both sources competing with the algae for nutrients and cleaning the tank.

I actually run Polyp Labs Reef Resh for my carbon source and AA. And it has a bacteria source. but I just wanted to add this also because I figured a little variety in bacteria might be good. So I will add 1 vial tonight. Thanks.

So I added the Bio-Digest the other day. And I haven't noticed any skimmate since. Is it common to not get any skimmate for a while after adding Bio-Digest?

I thought you were supposed to turn the skimmer off for a day or so when initially dosing biodigest to avoid it ending up in skimmate.

no it is not common. digest on its own should have no effect on skimmate. when combined with a carbon source such as MB7 or Bioptim skimmate production over short time should actually increase and be darker in color.

I've been using it for almost a year and half. Skimmate has been normal for me. I turn off my skimmer for 30mins after adding it to the tank and I've never noticed a drop in my alk or ph.

I haven't noticed any differance since adding the Bio-Digest. It's been about 7 days since I added it.

I guess I am the only 1. I did turn my skimmer off for about 20 min. I am going to dose again soon, and have a new skimmer, so I will see if it happens again. Maybe it was just a fluke.

I just added my second ampoule around 7 PM, and my skimmer was skimming fine again about 10 minutes after restarting it. My old skimmer was a DAS EX-1. My new skimmer is a external I-Tech 200. That is really the only thing that has changed since the last time. The last time my skimmer wouldn't skim for quite a while, a few days I would say at least.

I've been searching around for an answer to the Prodibio VS skimmate production question. I am dosing just the BioDigest, which I have been doing for 5 or 6 months.

Prior to initiating the Prodibio dosing, my skimmate was always very thick and almost black. This past week, since the last dose, I've had almost no skimmate except on the day after using frozen food. I also run a RDSB, if that makes any difference compared to a non-DSB Prodibio doser.
