I would like to get into the saltwater hobby and would like to have my first tank in my wife's highschool classroom. i figure it would increase the likelihood of her being OK with the hobby and its purchases. I recently found a 29 biocube for sale on craigslist. 200$ for a 29, and 12 gallon cube along with a stand for the 29, and some powerheads and a led light. I think that is a good deal if its not all scratch up n no leaks. They are good for beginners n advance reefers. I myself have a 29g n a 6g biocube, very easy to maintain since they are small tanks n dont need to buy extra equipement.

My 6g i have 2 clowns n a bicolor blenny n i do maybe 3 or 4 water change per year. im able to grow soft corals n maintain the tank with ease. If you start out slowly n let it cycle properly n do not over feed n put too much fish in there, imo its pretty easy to maintain. I just top off water as needed. To me it easier to deal with then my 110g. For a class room it would be the best thing. Plus the bigger the tank the more money you will spend on equipements, salt, water, food, fish, corals...time...etc..plus if you need to tear it fown, its easier or damage, less mess...

The bio cubes are nice tanks. They are fairly easy to care for. The bio cube skimmer leaves a lot to desire thought. I really don't like the air stone driven method. Others skimmers are reasonable (pump driven) and easy to clean. I have one I use for a qt tank and it does the job well.

I dont use any skimmer on mine just cause i dont want to deal with it, plus im lazy, i use media bag instead n might make half of the middle chamber into a refugium for cheato. You can setup an auto top off for her n the 6g can be use as a qt tank.
