Biocube 32 Refugium Light help

Hi all!

I'm very new to the saltwater world but I figured now is as good of time as ever to give it a go. I've been studying up on it for about a month now and finally got my cube set up. I want to set up a fuge with the InTake fuge basket when the 32 BC basket is released but I am completely confused when it comes down to a good light system that won't bleed heavy light at night and won't heat up the tank. I've seen people say they are using everything from a 10w LED flood light to a LED pen light. Just curious if anyone had some good suggestions. Tank has still got a ways to go before I can get started. About to be two weeks in with:
Ammonia- 4.0 ppm
NO2 - 0.5 ppm
NO3 - 5.0 ppm

I appreciate any feedback!

I'm thinking about buying the innovative marine but then came up with this idea. To build my own. For under $10 I may make my own.

There are cheap led panels that can equate those 4 watt lamps that cost over $40 and you can ebay magnets for cheap. Then silicone it together and voila it's done for a quarter of the price.

is there any soldering involved? I like the idea of DIY but I can't solder :-)

What's wrong with the Biocube mini light? The one that's designed to attach to the back?

(Asking because that's what I have been planning to use on mine.)

Nope just silicone coat the magnets and use silicone to attach magnets to the light.

It's probably perfectly compatible with the new cubes. It's expensive particularly worse in the long term sine the T5 bulbs will wear out. Also it's no a convenient as a thinner LED light and macro algea can grow with simple white light.

I bought the Innovative Marine MagnaFuge LED Refugium Light from intank when i ordered my media rack.

How has this light been working for you?

I've tried twice now to get Chaeto growing in my sump with this light. Both times the Chaeto has slowly started to brown out and start falling apart on me (not sure how clear it is, but I've attached a picture here). Bits and pieces of the Cheato are now starting to come through my return pump into my DT again. Hoping I can figure out a solution other than throwing it out again.

Curious if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Thanks!

Yep mine did the same.. not sure if it's the light or not enough tumbling flow.. I pulled the cheato out.. looked like it was doing more harm then good.

How many watts? When I do a google search, I can find many 6500k cfl bulbs but they have different watts.

to be honest I don't remember. It was just a standard bulb that we normally use around the house. I know the CFL watt was supposed to mimic a 100W incandescent bulb so it would have been either 40 or 60, whatever the conversion is.

You could also use a newer LED grow light for relatively cheap also.
