Biocube 32LED newbie questions!?

Been running mine since around Thanksgiving. No skimmer (many if the stuff you see here- this doesn't fit, that sucks, etc.). Had ruble in chamber 2 but wanted it clean, so cleaned it out and now run stick rack with floss, followed by bagged carbon and bagged PhosGuard, then a bag of Purigen, and then two small bags of ceramic matrix (could've done one larger bag) at the bottom. Floss switched weekly, Carbon monthly, PhosGuard when phosphates start coming up, and Purigen when nasty. Everything gets a rinse with tank water every 2 weeks. 10% water weekly. Put the larger Sicce nano power head in there, but it really ****es my frogspawn off. Still toying with that. Also replaced the hood fan with a quieter one from Amazon. And added a Smart ATO- best investment so far.

Nice tank and setup! I agree about the Smart ATO micro it's working great. Love it.

I have the Biocube 32 and here is what I have so far:

Chamber 1: Finnex 100 w heater
Chamber 2: inTank media with floss, purigen and chemi pure elite (planning on doing the refugium soon)
Chamber 3: stock return, additional temp gauge and Smart ATO sensor and return

My current concerns are keeping it under 80 degrees in the summer here in Phoenix. I might need to get a chiller and/or fan...researching now.

My other concern is finding an automatic feeder.

I have my 2 clowns, 3 turbo snails, 3 nassarious snails, a cleaner shrimp named Pepe. I have a few corals so far...frogspan looking real good. Learning as I go. I am pretty much obsessed with watching everything that is going on in there.

So far so good. :)

That's the one I got as well. You can go larger (diameter) but you may have to build an adapter (really just a piece of plastic with a fan-size hole and then a bunch of screw holes) to fit the fan's screw holes and the lid's.

So I set up my 32gal LED BIOCUBE 16 days ago. Im running everything fully stock right now, besides a koralia 425 nano powerhead, until the cycle is finished.

I started with 30lbs live sand and 25-30lbs dry rock. After a couple days of letting the water clear and talking with 2 LFS as well as friends in the hobby I decided to get a small clown and a green chromis to get my cycle started.

I purchased the two fish on day 3 and also purchased 'seed' bottled bacteria to help out with the cycling process. I tested my water daily for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates and watched as the cycle progressed.

Im feeding every other day with a quarter cube of brine shrimp and the fish seem to be doing fine.

The diatom algae growth has really shot up in the past few days and I was wondering when I should start getting a CUC and whats a recommended CUC? My ammonia has been 0 for 5 days now and my nitrites are 0 as of yesterday.

Heres a few pics of the progress!

Do a water change and leave lights off for three days and the diatom will go away. It's a common thing for new and recently new cycling tanks.

all these tanks look great. I will be purchasing a new tank very soon. Haven't decided to go if I will go with biocube 32, or another slightly larger option. Maybe fluval m90, jbj 45.
