hey guys i recently installed anaquatic life 115 skimmer in the 1st camber of mybiocube and everything went well other than now it has really raised the water levelin the tank so now instead of being filtered half the water just pours through the grates at the top and flow into chamber two i was thinking of blocking the grates but im scared the tank may overflow any ideas guys?

Try the skimmer in chamber 2, and either build a media basket or get one from media baskets. If you get one from media baskets make sure it will fit with the skimmer together in chamber 2. You can build a media basket with eggcrate and put in chamber 2 where water 1st flows and have filter floss and any other media underneath. The skimmer would then be next. You would raise the water level until the proper height for skimmer. Have an ato in chamber 3 to maintain water level.

Tank itself should self regulate and maintain proper level. The back chambers is where you should notice an increase in water level. With the AL115 and all the bioballs removed and the sponge between the second and third chambers removed(check that sponge if its still in there. I've seen a couple threads now where everyone forgot that sponge and it was completely full of crud blocking the water from getting to the return causing the DT to overflow), pay no attention to the marks on the side of the tank for water level. Most of us that run the AL115 and a media basket keep the water level just below the little hole in the wall between the second and third chambers.

Was the increase because of displacement of water by the skimmer? If so take some water out. Go with homer and ignore the water level marks, especially if running a media basket.
