Biocube moonlight electrical questions

So I've had a biocube 29 for about 3 years now. I remember when I hooked it up originally the moonlights were really bright and I loved the night time look with the shimmer. Lately it's lost it's luster so I called oceanic about this. The guy told me the most common cases for this are power supply going bad or the bulbs themselves. Since it's all three I personally ruled out the bulbs. Bit regardless oceanic sent me a new bulb set and new power supply. I swapped them and the new bulbs didn't work at all. So I was putting the old ones back in and I guess I had the little plug in backwards and when the prongs touched it was super bright. Twice as bright than before. But I obviously can't plug it in backwards. Then I put it in right and it's dull as usual again. I'm not an electrician here. What could cause this?

I'm not a electrician at all either, but did you try cleaning the prongs? maybe just some salt or something made them dirty.

The led's in the stock hoods suck, the connector in the back of the tank suck, the leds suck. just pull them out, and order some of Dr.Fosters and put them in yourself, if you want moonlights.

Agreed. I went to the auto parts store and picked up some blue LED's that people use to dress up their interiors. They work great.

there are a million problems with that stupid board that the LEDs plug into. There are ways to check the voltage output (voltmeter or ohm meter). Like the others said above you would be better off swapping to a better solution.
