Hi all,
I recently bought a small Birdsnest coral which had a pair of crabs living within it. I noticed the female had eggs, but the pair usually live on opposite sides.
However, soon after this discovery, I found the female had abandoned the coral and started living in crevices of LR.
Over the next couple of weeks, I would occasionally find the female, which still bear the eggs, reunite with the male in the birdsnest after light off, but they seemed to show some aggregation against one another.
After these two weeks, I found the female emerged at night without the eggs, and seemed to be roaming around the tank, and not rejoining the male in the coral.
I thought I'd share this bizarre behaviour with you, and hope someone knowledgeable can shed some light on this behaviour.
Thanks.
