Birdsnest HELP

Please help if you can...I am having problem with my birdsnest. Recently I changed lights from a 250w MH to AI sol. That was on Dec 27. Since then I have gone through the usual LED switch problems of starting low then raising it. Unfortunately after reading everything I could about the AI switch overs it scared me into starting too low so my top sps were getting starved for light. Last week I raised the lights up to 45/45/45 for six hours and what was happening to my SPS seemed to stop. Now my birdsnest has slowly continued to die from the base up very slowly. There were also several very tiny little "bugs" on the white base as well. They looked like some sort of pod that crawled on it with kind of a cone like body. I could not get a picture though.

What should I do? Is this coral doomed and if so should I frag it out before it gets even worse?

I had the same problem. I thought it was alk swing but turns out it was too much lighting.
All acros were fine except three different birdsnests.
It happened when I extended photo period 2 more hours. I would move it to shaded area.

I don't think what you have is a bird's nest (seriatopora) - it looks more like a pocillipora to me. I could be wrong though. JMTC & GL!
