Biting Clown?!

i have a long gash across my wrist from when I jerked my hand out of the tank after the dumb thing bit me

My Clarkiis are even more vicious than my GSMs. I was moving an RBTA after it split and my male clarkii kept biting at me and actually jumped out of the tank trying to follow it!!

Just for kicks...I actually got bitten on the lip 2 weeks ago while diving with my clowns. Generally, they only attack the regulator and my mask (reflective, maybe?)...but this time they were out for blood! Basically, there's a 3 ft sphere around their LTA that they will not let me enter.

its crazy how little fear these fish have. i mean a hand is one thing, but for them to challenge a whole human is nuts. just think what happens when a predator comes up to them in the wild.

ive also noticed that they tend to target tender spots... my female false perc will go right for the area between my fingers whenever my hand is in the tank.

My female ocellaris has begun to calm down, so long as I make gentle movements with my hand in the tank she generally won't bite. I wear a nitrile glove just in case. She's smart too, if I'm holding an object (say forceps to move a coral) she goes after my hand, not the object.
