I would also raise the light off the tank more if it's still at the same height, especially with the 90 degree optics. personally i have mine 2 feet above the tank. Besides spreading the light better it makes it a lot easier for maintenance. I had it lower at one point and every time i would do something with the tank i would smack it with something.
I did raise it since then. I put it 8" off, but maybe I should go higher? It is much better even this distance up and like you said you don't smack it!

Middle return chamber. I originally plumbed this for water changes, but realized that isn't really practical. I figure I can use it maybe somehow, but it can also be used to restrict flow. I am doing that already though with my plumbing to the fuge.
Custom snail guard. This works really well. I used light diffuser, suction cups, zip ties, and some leftover bird mesh from my DIY screen tops.

I am going to get a couple more fish this weekend, but want to make good choices. Any thoughts based on what I have already? I am trying to resist getting a hippo tang as everything I have read basically this size tank is too small for two tangs. I am think of a starry blenny maybe, flame hawk, and a purple (strawberry) dottyback. Any ideas?
I am in agreement. I can get the left side easily down about 8" prob. Do you think that is going to make a difference?
Thanks man! Can't wait to see your tank! Any thoughts on your livestock? I am trying to figure out if I can/could get another tang tomorrow at TFP when I go.
I rescaped a bit based on suggestions to lower. I don't like the look as much, but it will allow me to have much more coral. I also removed the 90 degree optics on my reefbreeders photon 48 to get better light spread.
