one of the most beautiful small fish imo. they seem soo hard to find tho!

mainly my question is,

does anyone know of a online store that currently has them in stock?? i cant seem to find any.

also, post pics, comments about them if you have owened one, or currently own one :D

Wonderful fish!! :D A good choice for a reef tank or even a semi-aggressive tank. Beautiful, bold, yet not too aggressive and they won't harm any inverts either! Mine ate everything offered and was out and about all the time. They do like to hang around their "cave" and will often do so upside down so don't freak out about that! ;)
The one I had died during the hurricanes of 2004 and I never replaced it. If my sw tank was a bit different now I would have one in a heartbeat!!

I thought this fish was supposed to be over aggressive?
And liked to pick on other fish a lot. Maybe I heard wrong??

They are usually aggressive when another fish invades their territory. I had mine for about 4 months, unfortunately my jeweled damsel and him got into a fight. After about a week he didn't make it. They also like to hang upside down beautiful fish.

They dig by scooping mouth fulls of sand and will spread it all over your corals. I got rid of one and a friend got rid of one for that reason. Otherwise great fish. No real aggression problems.

Mine is nowhere near aggressive as long as you don't house it with other Bassletts/Assesors.

Bought mine from saltwaterfish.com

Love this fish! I first started with a royal gramma but after he died, I wanted to give the blackcap a try. They're quite similar in behavior but more peaceful than the royal gramma. They do like to stay low under rocks/caves which won't worry you about them jumping out the tank.
I love their purple color. :o
