hello, I wonder what or which color patterns come from a cross between a occelaris black and the common pattern. There is a specific name for this variation?
From what I've been told by my LFS the black and the orange ocellaris and the same species so they aren't necessarily a cross between something. Instead it was looked at as a different race of ocellaris, just like I have white skin and someone may have black skin we are the same just different pigment. same goes with these.
I'd like to add I have a very limited experience in this hobby as I am new. so if I am completely wrong someone please correct me I would love to know.
That's an old thread and I think the name never really took hold.
That particular combination is commonly referred to as a mocha clown. Their color is kind of a darker/muddy orange kind of color. Try searching for "mocha clownfish" and you'll see plenty of examples.
