Have they just begun to be hosted by anything? Usually the black dots are sting marks from an unfamiliar host. They should fade and clear in time if this is the case.

what about if the black spots are larger-other shapes other than circular?? No nem or any large corals in tank -just a few zoas and a monti/paly and yellow polyps-on my smaller clown fish.

They are not hosting anything right now. I
moved them to a bigger tank but it's filled with sps. I wanted them to have their own home (anemone) , but right now it's being occupied by my clam which basically own the bottom of my tank. Do you guys think sps sting more than softies (they come from softies tank) , or could it be these worms who leave out stringy web which makes my xenia unhappy? Thanks again for the responses.

I have the same problem. From what I can see they are perfectly healthy. In fact-they just spawned and I dont know what to do. I don't have an anemone in my tank, so they must be getting stung by the mushrooms they hang out by. That is the only thing they swim around.
