Black false percs?

I am debating whether or not to get the black percs or the regular ones for breeding. Is one harder than the other to breed? I like the black ones, but if they are gonna be more difficult, I'll just stick with the orange ones. Do they take up anemones as well too?

I gotcha. Man, I really appreciate your help. I added you as a buddy so I will know who to ask next time i have a question. I hope you don't mind. I also had a question about live sand. My substrate now is that different rock crap that you buy as the fish store but I want to put in some live sand in my aquarium. Should I wait until the cloudiness goes down to add back the clown and anemone i already have?

arent black percs the same as regular percs? Only the coloring is different right? Unless there are some huge genetic differences between the two which btw would make them an altogether different species. IMHO it depends on the fish and the system they are kept in. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong on this one.

I would definitely wait a day or so for the tank to settle before putting anything back in it.

You are wrong... :D You are correct that they are the same species, just a different color variant, but they are nothing alike when it comes to getting them to spawn. I have actually had more luck with my pair than many here on the board.

We can't explain the difference, there just is one.

Another example of this is the Black Variant of A. Polymnus... Regualr A. Polymnus breed like rabbits. Black A. Polymnus have not been raised from fry to adulthood in captivity to date...

Not any more... There is a commercial hatchery in the south pacfic that has thousands and thousands of them waiting to grow a little more before sale.

IME black A. ocellaris are royal pains in the rump to get and keep spawning. Likely do to the lack of genetic deversity do to AU restrictive collection policies.

Wow that is news to me!!! Glad to know someone finally cracked them. Can't wait until the info starts leaking out on them.

How is it there's all these clown breeders but there is still such a high demand for the little guys?

Finding Nemo certainly didn't hurt.:D
