Black False Percula

I have a false percula in my tank for about 1 1/2yrs now and want to get a black false percula in hope that they may become a mating pair. Anyone have any ideas how I can do this? I know that the new perc needs to be young and small.

Well that's about it. Since you have an established A. Ocellaris I would get another one as small and Juvenile as possible. It shouldn't matter if it's an orange or Black and White A. Ocellaris.

Some helpful hints on the introduction: I would rearrange the rocks as you introduce the new clown. This should convince the existing clown that she is in a new territory. You will see agression typically and this is normal. Watch them and have either a breeders net or specimen container handy to cordon the new one off so they can be near eachother without attacking.

You want to see charging behavior that stops short and the smaller addition to stop, present it's belly and to shiver. When you start to see this, it's a good sign and let them continue. If you see several says of non stop chasing and attacking, remove the female to QT for a day and then re-introduce her and that should help.

In general A. Ocellaris are pretty easy to pair, just watch them.

I would introduce at least 2 to 3 juv. Eventually, one will bond with the female. They are not that hard to form pair.

I personally find that unethical, unless you have a backup plan to remove the others. I doubt you will have an issue with a juvenile in the tank with a much larger female.

That is right. When you have the Pair. You can set up another tank then you have 2 pairs or sell the others.

that would be a worse idea, ur best bet is to get one out of tank with other clowns, and get the smallest one 2-3 is unnecessary and youll regret it

adding 2-3 juvies like that is as ArgonDreams says unethical, I would never suggest that to anyone, its going to be a rough enough road for an already established female to accept one tiny juvie let alone 3 putting in all of them means death for some or all of the juvies

FWIW: If you are looking for cool babies from your mating pair, all reports I have heard is that the result of black X orange ocellaris is muddy brown babies.
